Remedial massage
Not a nice hour.
A fixed problem.
Most of the appointment goes into one or two regions — the ones you named at the door. Nothing gets a courtesy pass.

What makes it remedial
The clock goes
where it hurts
A relaxation massage covers the whole body evenly and asks nothing of you. Remedial work does the opposite: the pressure and the technique change depending on what the tissue is doing under the hands, and the clock goes where the problem is.
That focused soft-tissue work is exactly what happens in a myotherapy appointment here. The assessment at the front is the addition, not a replacement — and it is the reason the hands end up somewhere you might not have expected.
Good for
What it sorts out
- A specific knot or trigger point that will not let go
- Neck and shoulder tension that builds through the working week
- Low back tightness after lifting, gardening or a long drive
- Recovery between training sessions
- One joint or region that has stopped moving properly
How it feels
Firm. Not
a test of nerve.
Firmer than relaxation work and far more targeted. A stubborn area can be tender while it is worked — that is normal and it passes — but it should never be something you have to breathe through. The pressure is a conversation, not a setting.
What we treat
The six we
see most
Neck & shoulders
The one that starts at 3pm and is still there at bedtime.
Low back
Fine until you bend to put your shoes on.
Headaches
Starting at the base of the skull, not behind the eyes.
Tennis & golfer’s elbow
Six months of “it’ll settle”. It has not settled.
Desk and screen pain
Eight hours a day in one shape has consequences.
Sports injuries
The niggle you are still training on.

HICAPS is on the desk, and it is connected to every private health insurer in Australia — not just the ones listed. Tap your card after the appointment, the rebate comes off on the spot, and you pay the gap rather than the lot.
What comes back depends on your level of extras cover, and myotherapy is not on every policy. The terminal tells you the exact number before you leave the room, so there is no invoice to chase and nothing to find out later.
FAQ
Questions people actually ask
Is it claimable on private health?
Myotherapy is generally claimable if you hold extras cover, but rebates and waiting periods vary between funds. Worth a two-minute call to yours before you book.
How long should I book?
Forty minutes for a first visit, which includes the assessment. Twenty is enough for a single region once we know your history.
Do I need to undress?
Loose, comfortable clothing you can move in. You stay fully dressed for the whole appointment — there is nothing to change into and nothing to take off.
Will I be sore afterwards?
Sometimes, for a day, in the way you are sore after a solid gym session. Water and movement help more than lying still.
Book the hands-on work
Forty minutes, most of it spent on the thing you came in about.
